Responsible Tourism

Jenman Zimbabwe Safaris is committed to ‘making a difference’ in Zimbabwe. One of the ways that we accomplish this is by getting involved in the community and environmental initiatives below.

Painted Dog Conservation Centre

The Painted Dog Conservation’s mission is to protect and increase the number of painted dog (African wild dogs) both in Zimbabwe and the rest of Africa. Their three areas of concentration are to find the problems, reduce the problems and tell others about them. Experts are brought in to help train and develop the staff and encourage them to become role models within their communities. The PDC conservation efforts include anti-poaching units, a rehabilitation centre, a re-introduction program and pack monitoring. The PDC relies totally on the generosity of supporters. Jenman Zimbabwe Safaris is a proud supporter of the Painted Dog Conservation Centre.

Victoria Falls Anti-Poaching Unit

The Victoria Falls Anti-Poaching Unit is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of wildlife and its natural habitat. Situated in a national park, the town of Victoria Falls is located in one of the most beautiful environments on earth. However with the beauty of the location come some heavy burdens of human and animal conflicts. VFAPU tries to ease some of the burdens by protecting the wildlife and habitat from poachers (subsistence and commercial), as well as rescuing and rehabilitating animals which were injured by human interference. Additionally, they try to find employment for ex-poachers in order for them to have a sustainable income without doing harm to flora and fauna. Education is of great importance, and VFAPU and its partners try to reach children at an early age through school and community awareness programs. Jenman Zimbabwe Safaris supports the VFACU by offering you the chance to partake in a Wildlife Conservation and Awareness Safari or an Anti-Poaching Horse-Back Patrol as an extra activity when you visit Victoria Falls.

The Mother Africa Trust – Volunteer Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is a country that has undergone much turmoil in its recent history. As with most cases of political unrest it is the average citizen who is left with little choices in order to improve their circumstances. The Zimbabwean nation is a proud one, they do not willingly accept handouts but give them a chance to work for any benefits and they will do so with gratitude and sincerity. Mother Africa is totally dependent on volunteer involvement to keep their projects afloat, and its people like you who are making a real difference to local people’s lives and helping to safeguard Zimbabwe’s wildlife. Truly a holiday with a difference; have the experience of your life volunteering, contributing and getting involved in our wide variety of community and conservation projects. Choose from the following options:

Cultural and Community Initiative Programme: Based in the dramatic backdrop of the Matobo Hills, an area of such significance it has been declared a World Heritage site. Experience Africa like few others and assist at a local school, at an AIDS orphanage and with the Ndebele community at their rural village.

Wildlife Conservation and Research Programme: Located on the border of Hwange National Park… this is Big 5 country! Be part of a conservation revolution; get involved with a variety of research from lion and small carnivores to ground hornbill rehabilitation.

For every two-week volunteer program that is booked through us, Jenman Zimbabwe Safaris donates $100 to the Mother Africa Trust.
